Night Out

Thanks to my MIL, Jill, visiting us in Chicago, we could go to a dinner at the History Museum. One word to describe Chicago in the summer: humid.

Pigeon Hunter

Columbia's campus is next door. We spend time there running around chasing pigeons and playing freeze tag with the MacDonalds and strangers who want to join in.

Perfect Day in NYC (2)

After hula-hooping we headed over to the reservoir to use the row boats. This was my NYC favorite. Weather was perfect. 

Here's a lovely lady I found on the row boat.

Pete & Eva enjoyed the ride. Jane was passed out most of the time.

Perfect Day in NYC (1 of 2)

This was a perfect day in NYC. We went to Central Park with our friends Ryan and Amy.

Amy and Stace with their daughters Eva and Lily work on the hula-hoop. The guy in the yellow shirt and wig was playing the drums and singing "hula hoop" over and over and over. When we passed by him hours later, he was still at it.

Here Stace is getting serious. Amy, intimidated, leaves.

Tickle Attack

One of my favorite pastimes is to tickle Peter and Eva. I think it's because I didn't have a "little" brother to do this on. Unfortunately, my younger brother, Adam, was always bigger than me.
I perfected the attack this Sunday by rolling them up in a quilt so they couldn't flail their arms and legs. You can see the level of fun (pain) in the picture.
Instead of making them name 10 candy bars before stopping, I make them say 5 nice things about each other.
Usually, Eva gives a pretty good effort, including "you're handsome Pedo!" Pete often claims he can't breathe. As all ticklers for generation have said, "Oh yeah, then why can you talk!?!"

In the video, they both do a decent job.
As Stacey points out in the video, this was in between General Conference sessions. Conference was very refreshing.

April Fools

Check out that face on Pedro! He just gulped a HUGE spoonful of what he thought was chocolate pudding. Well, as you'll see in the video, BBQ sauce looks just like chocolate pudding, but does not taste as good.

The girls hatched a plan to trick us both. Fortunately, I didn't dig in before Pedro, so I missed gulping BBQ sauce.

Here We Are

I remember it well. 2003. "What is a BLOG?", I asked Mark. It's a way people express their ideas and interests so people can read it on-line. Only five years ago. And now it's how people survive--well some people, I guess. Hopefully, I'll never get to that point.

I've thought long and hard about this and come to these conclusions about blogging:

It's a way to connect and keep in touch. A way for Grandparents to see their Grandchildren and a way families and friends to know what's going on in one another's lives, and make the distance seem not so distant. A way to express thoughts and opinions, share interests and recipes, ideas, good things to do, good books and music, etc. What a great thing, really. That's why I've decided to jump on the "blog wagon", as my friend put it.

I guess more than anything, (since in reality, I may be the only one viewing our blog), it's for our family to keep track of the good things that happen in our daily lives.

I'm looking forward to sharing our day to day adventures, which are many with three kids under four years old. We're surviving a frigid winter and actually having fun within these four walls of our humble abode!
